VENA CAVA PRESENTATION SPRING 2007

Vena Cava Spring 2007 in the UPS Hub in Bryant Park on Thursday, September 14th 2006. This is the first show i've seen in a presentation, no parade of models walking up and down like runway traditionnal. The models (Carolina Bergstein, Darla Baker, Valeria Garcia...) were separated by groups of characters with names like "the day dreamers - picnickers" and "the misfits." The big carpet is fake green grass, where the models was near with the plastic frogs and snakes on the jars, barbecues hot dogs, corns and books. Imagine what you can see in this mood, visualize the beautiful blue sky with a few white fluffy clouds that the day dreamer admire! Enjoy the show!!

CFDA 7th on Sale

As far as blue-chip bashes go, we can always count on the CFDA to throw soirees that draw the most discriminating, exquisitely attired, fashion-forward attendees. These are the red carpet events we adore to cover, as the guests always provide a unique visual feast and never go for the safe dress or cookie-cutter styles. Last week’s CFDA/Vogue-founded 7th on Sale fete once again confirmed our opinion, as the above red carpet images prove.

If you’re not familiar with 7th on Sale, we’ve got a bit o background for your inquiring minds. Touted as the “world’s biggest sample sale” the event was started in 1990 by the CFDA and Vogue to raise money for services and housing for people living with HIV and AIDS. While the big party is over, it’s still possible to shop the sale on eBay (until December 6). Hundreds of big designers have donated items that are now available for purchase and bids start at just 10% of the retail price. Additionally, there are some celebrity-worn items up for grabs, we spied a Ralph Lauren dress worn by Cate Blanchett, the Valentino dress Anne Hathaway wore to the Oscars, and the four-inch Calvin Klein heels Madonna wore to the Vanity Fair Party.
But you probably came here for the clothes, so let’s address that now! One of the lovely aspects of this party (other than the heaps of money raised for a wonderful charity) is the fact that it’s not super formal. This means there are lots of ideas to inspire anyone trying to figure out what to wear to all the upcoming holiday cocktail parties! Perhaps you’ll take a cue from Julia Restoin Roitfeld and Eve; they went for the contrast of matte opaque black tights against their respective dresses sheen and sparkle. Or maybe you’ll want to wear a frock in winter white, like the sisters Olsen did, as well as Jacquetta Wheeler. We also adored all the bright and strong color, from the electric turquoise shade Agyness Deyn and Aerin Lauder chose to Jenni Kayne’s sunny yellow print to Natalia Vodianova’s cotton candy pink frock to Kate Bosworth’s rich, oxblood red dress.
